Being anti-racist is more than just saying “I’m not racist”. Being anti-racist means breaking the silence and having uncomfortable discussions. It requires you to be active, to reflect on your own mindset and behavior, and to make other people aware of their biases and mistakes too.
BREAKING SILENCE is a 14-day anti-racism challenge that will discuss the topics of racism, white privilege, white supremacy, white fragility and what true “allyship” looks like. The challenge starts with a virtual kick-off event on March 12, 2021 (6 – 8 pm) hosted on ZOOM with four different speakers offering insights into their work in the field of anti-racism and activism:

• Mag.a Pauline Riesel-Soumaré (Antidiskriminierungsstelle Steiermark)
• Mag.a Fabienne Schantl (Teacher, MS Strallegg)
• Camila Schmid, BSc (Founder of Re-Define Racism and Initiator of the petition to rename the „M.- Gassen“ in Vienna’s second municipal district)
