SUMMARY:Wien: Listening as Creative Practice with guest lecturer Dr. Obaro
 Ejimiwe (Ghostpoet)
DESCRIPTION:With guest lecturer Dr. Obaro Ejimiwe (Ghostpoet) \nAn event by
the Department of Diversity\, Equity\, Inclusion and the Vice Rectorate D
 EI.\n&nbsp\;\nDr. Obaro Ejimiwe\, professionally known as Ghostpoet\, is a
British-Nigerian interdisciplinary artist whose practice moves across mus
 ic\, sound\, visual art\, film and theatre. Listening\, both as a creative
method and as a way of understanding environments\, memory and human expe
rience\, sits at the centre of his work.\n\nAcross five studio albums\, Ej
imiwe has developed a distinctive musical language combining atmospheric e
lectronics and live instrumentation with fragmented narratives drawn from
everyday life. His debut album\, Peanut Butter Blues &amp\; Melancholy Jam
\, and third album\, Shedding Skin\, were both nominated for the Mercury P
rize. His recent releases and performances have increasingly explored ambi
ent composition\, field recording\, spatial sound and improvisation.\n\nHi
s work and performances have been presented at institutions and venues inc
luding Haus der Kulturen der Welt\, Kampnagel\, SAVVY Contemporary\, Volks
bühne and the Neue Nationalgalerie.\n\nEjimiwe’s practice is shaped by
an ongoing interest in how ordinary sounds can become artistic material: h
ow listening changes when context is removed\, how environments hold socia
l and emotional information\, and how recording can act as a form of atten
tion rather than simple documentation.\n\nHe was awarded an honorary Docto
r of Arts by Coventry University in 2022. Born in London and currently bas
ed in Berlin\, he continues to develop work across sound\, performance\, m
oving image and artistic research.\n&nbsp\;\nWebpage of Dr. Obaro Ejimiwe
