West Asian Film Festival Vienna presents contemporary cinema from West Asia and neighboring cultural regions. The festival creates a space for films that engage with the social, political, and aesthetic questions emerging from a culturally diverse region often reduced to simplified narratives.
Featuring works from Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Gaza, Rojava, and Rojhelat, the program spans documentary, experimental, and poetic storytelling. Alongside screenings, artist talks, lectures, workshops, and community encounters create a space for dialogue, reflection, and exchange between filmmakers and audiences.
